UOFT Webmail is the University of Toronto weblogin service (UTORweblogin) and provides a single spot for you to identify yourself to web services inside the University.

This is typically dubbed a “single sign-on” (SSO) system. Once you log in to weblogin.utoronto.ca, you can access services like the Portal and webmail as well as other weblogin-enabled web services.

A single point of login streamlines access to protected services. Users can log in once with a single JOINid/UTORid and password and get access to various services. Without maintaining their own password systems, service providers can authenticate users.

How to log into UOFT Webmail

To log into University of Toronto, U of T webmail;

  • Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, etc.) and navigate to webmail.utoronto.ca.
  • The link will take you to the Weblogin page.
  • Enter your UTORid and password, then click the Login button.
  • You may be required to complete maintenance; after performing the maintenance or skipping it, you will be taken to your UTORmail mailbox.

The UTORid identifies a user to numerous campus services, including UTmail+, the Portal, the campus wireless network (UTORcwn), and numerous departmental services.

Having a single user identifier and password makes it easier to access protected services. Users will only need to remember one password, and service providers will no longer be required to operate a password management system.

UTORids are assigned to students throughout the registration procedure. You should visit the TCard office on your campus to receive your UTORid-bearing TCard and a letter describing how to activate your UTORid.

How to log out of UOFT Webmail

Using cookies, the U of T weblogin stores information in your web browser. When you close your browser, these cookies are deleted, and you are logged out of weblogin and any services that use it for authentication.

To close your web browser, locate the close, exit, or “X” button.

Uses of UTORid

The services that require a UTORid and password are listed below.

  • ACORN — ACORN UOFT accounts are utilized for course selection, academic records, and money transactions. ESC can aid with login problems (http://uoft.me/esc). If you are unable to access ACORN, you must contact your registrar’s office.
  • Computer access on-campus — Computer Access Facilities are located in numerous college libraries. They offer Internet-connected workstations.
  • Online library resources — The University of Toronto subscribes to a large number of electronic resources, which you can access with your UTORid or library barcode.
  • Quercus (Canvas)Quercus UOFT is the learning management engine (LME) at the University of Toronto.
  • TCard+ – TCard+ is your ID and library card, but it can also be swiped and used to pay for goods and services on the St. George and Scarborough campuses.
  • UTmail+ for college students — UTmail+ is the University of Toronto’s email and calendar service for students. The service includes integrated email, calendaring, contacts, and task lists and is powered by the Microsoft 365 platform.
  • For academics, librarians, and employees — UTmail+ The latest complete online e-communication and collaboration tool for teachers, librarians, and staff is UTmail+ powered by Microsoft 365, which includes integrated email, calendaring, contacts, and task lists, among other capabilities.
  • UTORvpn — Access to specific resources is restricted to computers connected to the campus network at the University of Toronto. The UTORvpn (Virtual Private Network) service enables teachers, staff, and graduate students to access these resources from outside the university network.
  • The campus wireless network (UTORcwn) provides wireless internet connectivity throughout campus.

How to activate your UTORid

Your UTORid and password grant you access to online services such as Uoft webmail, ACORN, portal, library services, and the campus wireless network, among others. Your UTORid and password are identical to your JOINid, which you received in prior communications.

To activate your UTORid:

  • Go to utorid.utoronto.ca and click the Activate Your UTORid option for First-Time Users.
  • Provide your JOINid and the Secret Activation Key.
  • Set up your UTmail+ email address*.
  • Configure your UTORid reset password and account management settings.
  • After activating your UTORid and configuring your email, all future messages will be sent to your UTmail+ address.

To activate your UTORid, you must have a Secret Activation Key if you are a new student. This Secret Activation Key was emailed to you during your identity verification session with a TCard staff member or delivered by another approved U of T staff member.

How to verify your UTORid and password

If you believe you have the right UTORid and password, you can verify this by performing the steps below:

  • Go to utorid.utoronto.ca.
  • Under Problems with your UTORid, click on Verify your UTORid and password.
  • Your UTORid and password are required.
  • Select Verify Your UTORid.
  • Visit Forgotten UTORid password if your UTORid and password do not authenticate.

Wait before retrying the UTORid if a notice arrives stating that a database error has been resolved, as some modifications may take time to propagate throughout the login system.

NOTE: UTORids cannot be changed even as a result of a legal name change. However, a UTORid is only used by the individual and is not publicly available for others to see.

Why your UTORid password does not work

If you know your password but are still unable to access one or more UTORid services, you should verify it.

  • Click the verify link on the UTORid Management page, enter your UTORid and the password you believe you know, and then click Check.
  • If you see the message Authentication failed, your password is incorrect and must be reset (see the article Forgotten UTORid password).
  • Upon seeing the message Your UTORid and password have been validated; please retry logging into any UTORid service, taking care to type the password precisely as it was provided (remember that UTORid passwords are case-sensitive).
  • Upon seeing the message The issue with our database has been resolved; please wait a few minutes for the modification to take effect. Then, attempt to log in to any UTORid service once more.
  • During business hours, contact the Help Desk if the problem persists (see their hours of service).

If you do not have an active UTORid, you can order your transcript by following these simple steps.

  • Please visit https://transcripts.utoronto.ca.
  • Scroll to the Ordering Methods section.
  • Try searching for Don’t have ACORN access?
  • Click Create Account and then follow the instructions.
