UF VPN Installation Guide

The UF VPN service enables secure remote access to the University of Florida network and creates the illusion that your computer is physically connected to the campus network.

VPN is an abbreviation for Virtual Private Network. It enables you to connect to a different computer off-campus and use that machine’s Internet connection. It can be used for research purposes.

Using the Gatorlink VPN client, you can access UF network resources that are not generally accessible via an Internet connection. Examples include:

  • Windows file shares.
  • Private IP addressed systems (10.x.x.x, 172.16.x.x).
  • UF Library Journals.
  • Software licensing services.
  • UF Health.

The Cisco Anyconnect VPN client is the foundation of the Gatorlink VPN service. This client is compatible with numerous operating systems, including Windows, Mac, Linux, Apple IOS, and Android.

UF health vpn

Due to HIPAA regulations and HSC Security Policies, all communications between your home computer and the college network must be encrypted, as they may contain PHI, passwords, and other sensitive information.

A Virtual Private Network or UF VPN can encrypt all traffic between your remote computer and the University of Florida network.

The UF VPN client authenticates you using your myUFL (Gatorlink) login and password. It then establishes a secure connection between your distant computer and the University of Florida network and sends all traffic to and from UF through this connection.

This website contains downloadable VPN client software for the UF (HSC) Network and the UF Health VPN.
