UCSD Email: Accessing Your UC San Diego Email Account 2022

The University of California, San Diego provides email addresses to faculty, staff, and students, as well as numerous affiliations. Your affiliation and department decide the type of email account and available support services. Follow the provided steps to create a UCSD email account.

You will obtain a UCSD email account a few days after submitting your Statement of Intent to Register if you are a new student (SIR). To set up your email account, please review the activation and login requirements for your student account.

You will no longer have access to a UCSD email account once you graduate. If you wish to preserve a UCSD email account, the Alumni Association provides alumni with a forwarding email service.

How to check your UCSD email

Securely access your UCSD email from home or a public computer:

  • Launch your web browser and navigate to mail.ucsd.edu to access UCSD Web Access.
  • To access your email, enter your AD login and password, then click Login.
    • Typically, your username is the portion of your email address that comes before the @ sign.
  • Contact your system administrator or the ITS Service Desk for instructions if you use an email server other than mail.ucsd.edu.

How to activate and access your new student account

Follow these instructions to activate and gain access to your new UC San Diego email account.

This student account is also utilized for other ITS-supported services and systems, including computer labs, WiFi networks, WebReg UCSD, UCSD VPN, and the UCSD Canvas learning management system.

Find your username and email

  • Go to the Student Account Lookup instrument.
  • Under the second option (‘Forgot Login? ‘), input your Last Name and Student PID, and then click the Submit button to view your username.
  • Select the option that displays your account’s username.
    • This displays information regarding your account and official UC San Diego email address. This tool will display information about computing resources if you enroll in classes.
    • You should notice a New Students account activation alert with a Change Password link at the top of the page.

NOTE: it may take 1-2 business days for your account to become active after you accept your admission offer in Slate. If your account cannot be located and you just accepted, please try again in a day or two.
