What is an IslandID?

A valid IslandID and password are required to access the majority of University resources. Students receive these certificates upon entrance to the university. After acceptance, emails detailing the account claim procedure are sent within 24 to 48 hours.

After claiming your IslandID, confirm that you can access your University email. Emails from the Business Office, Financial Aid, Housing, and Orientation are sent via the Islander as the primary mode of communication for university business.

Access to your IslandID account, email, and Office 365 is preserved for one year (365 days) following your last day of attendance at the University. Any data kept in Office 365 must be retrieved before this period expires.

After claiming your IslandID, account recovery will require you to answer security questions. In addition, once you’ve set your password, you can provide an alternative email address and phone number as recovery methods. If you are having trouble regaining access to your account, please contact the I.T. Service Desk for assistance.

About your Student ID

To preserve students’ privacy, Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi assigns each incoming Islander a unique, nine-character identification number. This number, known as your Student ID, will function as your universal identification card during your enrollment and will be used to verify your identity in lieu of your Social Security Number.

Your A-Number is an additional form of identification issued by the Registrar’s office and utilized for many resources. Visit MyIslandID.tamucc.edu and click “Forgot Student ID (A#)?” to recover your Student ID.

After obtaining your Student ID, you have the option to create your University computer accounts, such as your Islander Student Email and TAMUCC SAIL.

To receive your Student ID, enter your Social Security Number (with no dashes) and your P.I.N. Your P.I.N. is automatically set to your date of birth in the format MM/DD/YYYY as a new student.
