How can I get my NYU NetID?

An NYU NetID is granted to all NYU faculty, staff, and students enrolled in degree or certificate programs (Network IDentification). Typically printed on the back of your NYUCard, your NetID is a combination of your initials and a few random digits (e.g., aqe123).

Your NetID is unique from your university identification number, which also appears on your NYUCard. However, it is a long series of integers beginning with “N.” Members of NYU School of Medicine and Langone Health have a KID that is also a NetID.

After authorization, your NetID grants you access to several NYU online resources, including NYUHome Login Portal and NYU Google Apps (Email, Calendar, Drive, etc.). Using your NetID, your official NYU email address (e.g. aqe123@nyu.edu) is generated.

After activating your NYU NetID, you will be eligible to utilize the NYUHome Login Portal service if you are a member of the NYU community. Your NYU NetID, located on the back of your NYUCard, is essential.

After your NetID has been activated, you can use NYUHome by logging in from home.

Using your NetID and password, you can gain access to nyu.edu.

Before you may access NYUHome, you must activate your NetID. You must then configure your password and other options.

  • To proceed, press the Enter key.
  • Set an email address for password recovery on the Security Settings page.
  • You may create a password for Google Apps for Education if you choose.
  • Students and alumni now have access to Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). Full-time degree students will be required to set up MFA by the next census date, and they are strongly encouraged to do so immediately.
  • How does Multi-Factor Authentication work and what is it? MFA adds an additional layer of security to NYU’s online services, limiting unauthorized access to your personal data. MFA necessitates authentication using a different device during the login process.
  • Members of the NYU community other than students and alumni will be prompted to set up and use MFA when logging in to NYU services for the first time; they will not be required to activate MFA on the NYU Start Page. If you like to immediately configure MFA and the Duo Mobile app, click Logout and then Login.
  • Click Continue and then Confirm to proceed, or click Back to make changes.

When you reach the success screen, the process is complete. Then, if you so desire, you can return to the permitted main menu page. After MFA has been enabled, you can update settings and configure your mobile app as a password recovery option there.
