How to get your Lonestar student ID number

By logging into myLoneStar, you can view your seven-digit student ID number. In one of the tiles on your Student site (“Profile”), your ID number will be shown.

To obtain a student ID number and password,

  • Visit the login page for MyLoneStar (my.lonestar.edu).
  • Select the “Get Username” link.
  • Enter your last name, date of birth, and the last four digits of your Social Security number. Then, press submit. Your username will show on a screen. SAVE these details.
  • Click “Reset Password” on the login screen to reset your password.
  • Enter your login or student ID number and then press the submit button. This will prompt you to create a password if you have never done so. If you have previously generated a password, you must answer the security questions you set up.

You now possess your Username and Password. Sign in to your MyLoneStar account to access your student ID number. Under the “Profile” symbol, you will find your Student ID if you click the “Student” icon.

What is your username?

Your username consists of a combination of your last name and a portion of your first name. For instance, “Eskarina Smith” may have the username esmith or eskasmith, whereas “John Smith” may require the username jsmith4. If you have a common name, a number may be added to the end of your username.

It is preferable to use your username (rather than your student ID number) when logging in to campus computers or using the alternative login for library databases.

myLonestar email

You may encounter three types of email addresses at Lone Star College: D2L, student, and employee.

The format of your LoneStar student email address is [myLoneStar username]@my.LoneStar.edu.

Eskarina Smith, whose login is esmith1, would have the email address esmith1@my.LoneStar.edu.

How to access myLoneStar email

You can sign in to myLoneStar or your LSC Microsoft 365 account to view your email (portal.office.com).

  • Visit myLoneStar (my.LoneStar.edu).

In the center of the homepage of your Student view, there will be a preview of your inbox, as well as a link to Student Email in the Quick Links box on the left.

Students also have a D2L-based email address, such as esmith1@D2L.LoneStar.edu. This is intended solely for communication with professors and classmates within D2L; it is not your regular, official email account.

Your email passphrase is also your myLoneStar passphrase…

the same password you used to access myLoneStar. You can access it using myLoneStar and should not be required to sign in again.

If you have forgotten your email address, the “Get Username/Email” page will supply you with both your LSC username and email address. You can reset your LSC password using the “Reset Password” page.
