EKU Direct: EKU Student Login Portal

EKU Direct is your access to Eastern Kentucky University’s campus services. Among these services are establishing your EKU email account, registering for classes, obtaining a parking permit, and many others.

This page will explain how to access the EKU student portal, EKU email, how to register for classes, and how to set up your account at Eastern Kentucky University.

How to log into eku direct

To connect to EKU Direct,

  • You should navigate to it.eku.edu/myEKU.
  • Click on the link labeled “Current Students, Faculty & Staff, and New Employees.”
  • Enter your EKU identification number (no spaces or dashes).
  • Enter the 6-digit password you created.

What is your EKU ID number

  • Your email username (often your first name last name#) and password serve as your login credentials for a variety of online resources, including your email, Blackboard, EKU SECURE Wi-Fi, and library databases. If you reset your password, it will also be reset on the other accounts.
  • Your EKU Direct User ID is your EKU ID number, and your PIN consists of six digits.
  • To reset a non-expired password for your email account>>Click the ‘Change My Password’ button on the mymail.eku.edu homepage.
  • To reset your email password after its expiration>>Contact the IT Service Desk at 859.622.3000 if you remember the answer to your security question in order to reset your password.

If you forget your PIN,

  • Provide your User ID.
  • Leave the PIN field empty.
  • Select the Forgot PIN? link.
  • You will be presented with the security question you created when you first registered your account. Respond to the question. You must type it exactly as it was originally created.
  • Contact the Registrar’s office or employees at your Regional Campus if you have questions about how to reset your account (You must have a photo ID if in person or contact us with your request through your EKU email account to get your account reset).
  • If you properly answer the question, you will be required to create a new PIN. Enter six digits in the first box, followed by the same six digits in the second box.

First-time users: EKU Direct & EKU email

Log in to your Admissions Portal via admissions.eku.edu/apply if you have been admitted and need to set up your EKU Direct and EKU student email.

To log in, use the email address and password you used to submit your application for admission. Choose your application on the screen to view the #COLONELNATION welcome page.

On that screen, select the tab labeled EKU Direct. Once you have a student number, password, and student email address, you can use the blue instructions at the bottom to set up your EKU Direct account (the administrative site where you add classes, etc. online) and then your student email.

  • User ID – Enter your EKU identification number (no dashes or spaces)
  • Enter your birthday as a 6-digit number for your PIN (example: December 27, 1962 would be 122762).
  • Select SIGN IN.
  • You will be required to enter your previous PIN again. This will be your sixth-digit birthday once more. Enter six numbers other than your birthdate in the second box. Re-enter these six digits into the third box. Be mindful of your new PIN.
  • Click SIGN IN
  • Follow the instructions to complete account setup.

How to log into Eku myMail

Your Eku myMail account is the institution’s official means of communication. Under the ‘Personal Information’ tab of EKU Direct, you activate your email. Your email username (often your first name last name#) and password grant you access to campus-secure Wi-Fi, Blackboard, and your email account, among other privileges.

How to Access EKU myMail

  • You should navigate to it.eku.edu/mymail.
  • Select Sign In to myMail.
  • Enter your username (John Smith@mymail.eku.edu, for example).
  • Provide your email passphrase.

Configuring EKU myMail for iOS

Register for Two-factor/Multi-factor Authentication before configuring your application. This procedure is described in greater detail on the 2FA/MFA registration page.

  • Launch the Microsoft Outlook app for iOS.
  • Enter your O365 Username (EKU email) in the format EKU username>@mymail.eku.edu on the Add Account screen.
  • Select Add Account.
  • If the account type is not detected immediately, choose Office 365.
  • Provide your password.
  • Tap Sign In.
  • Enter the code supplied to you or approve the request on your mobile device to authenticate your sign-in.

Android EKU myMail configuration

  • If an introductory screen is displayed when the app is launched for the first time, press Get Started.
  • Some accounts may already be on your phone. If so, deselect all accounts and then click Skip at the bottom of the page. (Note: The Skip option will not be displayed if any accounts are selected. Alternatively, tap Add Account.
  • Input your O365 Username (EKU Email) as EKU username>@mymail.eku.edu. Tap Continue then.
  • If the account type is not detected immediately, choose Office 365.
  • Enter your email password for EKU.
  • Tap Sign In.
  • Enter the code supplied to you or approve the request on your mobile device to authenticate your sign-in.

Finding Email Addresses

  • Employ “Global Address List” to locate the email address of any EKU classmate, faculty member, or staff person.
  • Select Individuals at the top of the screen.
  • Click All Users on the screen’s left side.
  • In the box labeled Search People, enter the contact’s name and press Enter.
  • When you click the name of the individual you wish to contact, information about that individual will appear on the right.
  • You can send the person an email by clicking their email address.

How to enroll in classes through EKU Direct

Before you may register, you must consult with your advisor and obtain your RAC* (Registration Access Code) number. The RAC number is also known as the “Alternate Pin Number” in EKU Direct.

Each semester, you will receive a new and different RAC number. Graduate students are not needed to have RAC numbers.

  • Log into eku direct.
  • Student Services and Financial Aid can be accessed by clicking on the corresponding link.
  • SelectRegistration.
  • Click on Add/Drop Classes (Note: This is the only location where you can OFFICIALLY confirm that you are registered, withdrawn, dropped, etc.). Ensure that there are no registration errors.
  • Select the registration term and click the Submit Term button.
  • If requested to provide your RAC number (referred to as an Alternate PIN in this context), enter it and then click Submit PIN. The RAC is solely necessary for undergraduate enrollment. You must consult with your advisor in order to acquire this six-digit number. Refer to your DegreeWorks audit if you’re uncertain who your academic advisor is.
  • To Add a Class: Enter the Class Registration number (Course Reference Number, which is a five digit number that specifies a class section). CRNs are accessible through the online schedule book. After entering the figures, carefully proofread your work and then click the Submit Changes button.
  • Check for problems in registration. Check the status of each class as well. If the status does not indicate “enrolled,” then you are NOT enrolled in the class. The registration error for a course is displayed beneath the courses for which you have registered.

How can I reinstate a course that I dropped?

To re-enroll in a dropped class, click the arrow next to the action window beside the dropped class on the Add/Drop page. The notice will read “Dropped by Web,” but clicking the arrow will reveal other alternatives.

If it is still within the semester’s Add/Drop period, “Reregister Dropped Course” will be an option. Choose this action and then click “Submit Changes” at the bottom of the page. WAIT for the page to reload and CONFIRM that the notice next to the course has changed and that the course is associated with credit hours.

What is EKU blackboard?

Eastern Kentucky University’s learning management system is EKU Blackboard. It is a resource made available to all students and educators as an aid to learning. Every class at EKU is assigned a Blackboard site, and instructors and students are instantly enrolled. Your EKU Blackboard Login is the same username and password that you use for EKU Email.
